Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best well-known for her character of detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she earned an Emmy Award. Her other credits include her performances in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Born as the only daughter to a top executive from the United Auto Workers and a household worker, Delaney grew up with her four brothers. In childhood, Delaney dreamed of being a reporter for the court. The first time she began modeling was in highschool and eventually gained commercial opportunities when she relocated to New York. In 1981, she appeared as an innocent teen in the film All My Children. Delaney is a well-known actress, appearing in many films, television shows, and dramas. She has not had a good or satisfying personal life. There were two divorces that failed and fought with alcoholism. In 2005 she lost the custody of her son.
